She was defeated by Australian player Ajla Tomljanović 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1. With this defeat Selena Williams career came to an end. The fans, who came from different part of the World to see Serena Williams on the court for the last time, stood up and bid her a final farewell. During the speech, even Serena could not hold back her tears.

She said on the event, “I thank every one individuals here who have been supporting me for such countless years, many years, in a real sense many years. Everything began with my parents. I am grateful to them. I think so.” They are tears of joy. My parents said that if there was no Venus, there would be no Serena. She is the only reason Serena Williams ever existed. It has been a fun journey. It’s the most incredible memory I’ve ever had in my life.
