The duo was the subject of a "relentless pursuit" for over two hours, according to a statement released by a representative of Harry and Meghan.

But Mr. Singh, who saw part of what happened, did not say that his drive was a dangerous chase by reporters.

Mr. Singh, dressed in a navy blue shirt, narrated the newsworthy journey to reporters outside his family's house in Queens.

I was walking along 67th Street when the guard called out to me. The next thing I knew, Prince Harry and his bride were in my cab.

"A garbage truck blocked our way, and then the paparazzi showed up and started taking pictures."

When Harry and Meghan were about to reveal their final destination, the guard called for them to head back to the station.

They appeared apprehensive, and Mr. Singh speculated that they had been pursued all day. "They were nervous, but the guard was right on it."
