Chebet completed in 2 hours, 8 minutes and 41 seconds, which was 13 seconds in front of second-place finisher Shura Kitata of Ethiopia.

Do Nascimento got out to a quick beginning on an unexpectedly warm day and drove by almost 2 minutes for a large portion of the race.

Chebet pulled away from the pack chasing Daniel Do Nascimento as they headed over the bridge into Manhattan interestingly.

After Do Nascimento fell, Chebet started to lead and never was undermined the rest of the way. Chebet won the Boston Marathon recently.

Kenya's Sharon Lokedi won the NYC Marathon 2022 women’s race in her debut. It was the first-ever marathon for Lokedi.

Lokedi completed in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 23 seconds and she was just ahead of Israel's Lonah Chemtai Salpeter.

Switzerland's Marcel Hug won the men’s wheelchair race for the 5th time, tying Kurt Fearnley for most-ever victories in that event.
