Kirstie Alley Passes Away at 71
True and Lillie Parker, Kirstie Alley’s children, officially confirmed her death on social media. Alley was an Emmy-winning actress best known for her role on “Cheers” and films like “Look Who’s Talking.” She was 71 years old at the time.
Our incredible, fierce, and lovable mother has passed away after a short battle with cancer that was only recently diagnosed.
The family statement went on to say, “She was accompanied by her nearest and dearest and fought with great strength, leaving us with surety of her never-ending happiness in life and whatever adventures lie ahead.” “She was an even more incredible mother and grandmother than she was an iconic actress.”
The announcement said, “Our mom’s passion and enthusiasm for life, her kids, grandkids, and indeed many animals, as well as her everlasting joy of creating, were incomparable and end up leaving us influenced to live life to the fullest, just as she did.”
Kirstie Alley’s Career
Having been born in Wichita, Kansas in 1951, Alley is a two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner. She played opposite Mark Harmon in a number of films after her breakthrough performance in 1982’s “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” including 1984’s “Blind Date” and 1987’s “Summer School.”
In 1982, following in the footsteps of Shelley Long, Kirstie Alley starred opposite Ted Danson in the final season of the groundbreaking television sitcom Cheers. Throughout the show’s entire run from 1987 until its cancellation in 1993, Kirstie Alley portrayed the feisty and self-reliant bar manager Rebecca Howe.

Actor Parker Stevenson, who played Alley’s husband on “Baywatch” and is the father of her 2 kids, also shared his condolences online. In an Instagram post that a representative for Stevenson confirmed was his, he wrote, “Kirstie, I am so thankful for our years together and for our two lovely kids and now grandchildren. To paraphrase: “You’ll be sorely missed.”
