A professional surfer from Hawaii named Mikala Jones passed away after a terrible surfing accident. He was 44.
Mikala Jones Dies
Jones had “a wound around ten centimeters long in the interior of his left groin as a result of an accident,” according to Surfline. At the time, Jones and his family were in Indonesia. According to the site, Jones was a guest at the Awera Resort in North Sipora at the time of the event. He was rushed to the hospital, but the hospital declared him dead from his wounds.
His daughter Isabella posted a tribute to her late father on Instagram after learning of his passing.
“I’m currently in such a state of disbelief; this doesn’t feel real. I wish I could give you one more embrace, Dad, because I love you so much,” she said. “I wish I could say how much I appreciate you and how much I adore you for being the best parent ever. I wish you were still here with us; you weren’t meant to leave yet. This is just too early. With Nana Vi and your friends, I am confident that you are doing well right now. I wish this had never occurred so we could just get up tomorrow and go surfing together.
