The Qatari club has triggered a release provision in the 32-year-old’s contract, which has 12 months remaining on its term with the club.

According to reports, a deal has already been reached between the clubs, and Rodrigo is already getting his physical in preparation for signing his contract later today.

The club-record transfer of Rodrigo to Leeds from La Liga team Valencia in 2020 cost the Spaniard roughly 30 million pounds throughout a four-year contract.

When Leeds’ experiment with Welsh striker Patrick Bamford looked to have slowed their attack, Rodrigo joined the team and had an instant impact.

He played 97 times for the club throughout his three seasons at Elland Road, contributing five assists and scoring 28 goals.

Despite being demoted, Rodrigo’s final season with the team ended up being his most fruitful because he finished the year as Leed’s top scorer with 15 goals and two assists in 35 games across all competitions.

Leeds had a season that can only be described as disappointing as the once-promising team finished in 19th place. Leeds failed badly as they could only recover one point over their final five Premier League games despite the threat of relegation and must-win games scheduled in the closing weeks of the season. This unavoidably determined Leeds’ fate and the team was ultimately dropped to the Championship for the next campaign.

Rodrigo joins the likes of Brendan Aaronson, Marc Roca, Robin Koch, and Tyler Roberts as the sixth player to leave the club this summer, causing Leeds to suffer significant losses to their squad in the wake of their relegation.

Al Rayyan of Qatar will be expecting that Rodrigo Moreno’s addition will strengthen their team and guarantee a stronger finish in the Qatar Stars League.
