Madison Brooks Investigation: The Louisiana State University sophomore Madison Brooks and her alleged attackers, the majority of whom are minors, were served alcohol the night she was allegedly raped and then fatally struck by a car. The authorities of the state have issued an emergency suspension of the bar where the incident occurred.
Madison Brooks’ probe continues
Madison Brooks, who is now 19 years old, was at Reggie’s Bar in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before the four men, ranging in age from 17 to 28, are said to have sexually assaulted her in a car early on the morning of January 15 and then abandoned her to fend for herself. It is believed that the incident occurred very early in the morning.
According to the police, Madison Brooks was struck by a vehicle in East Baton Rouge Parish, and she passed away later in a local hospital after being taken there.
Ernest Legier Jr., the commissioner of Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control, said in an emailed statement to Fox News Digital that the action taken against Reggie’s on Tuesday “immediately suspends the service or sale of alcoholic drinks.” Reggie was cited for providing minors with alcohol.
Legier Jr. stated that the Louisiana ATC is collaborating with the Baton Rouge ABC as well as with local law enforcement to examine recent occurrences that have occurred at this facility and share any evidence that they uncover. Given the gravity of the allegations and the need to ensure the public’s safety, we shall issue an immediate suspension effective immediately,” the statement will say. “It is probable that the general people will be exposed to risk.”
According to what he said, an emergency hearing will take place the next month with the purpose of “determining what sanctions (if any) should be imposed following a presentation of the facts.”
The four suspects were taken into custody and charged with the attack. A spokesman for LSU has confirmed that none of the four individuals under investigation were students at the university. Both Kaivon Deondre Washington, 18, and a 17-year-old male suspect, whose identity has been withheld due to their ages, have been charged with third-degree rape.
Everett Deonte Lee, age 28, and Casen Carver, age 18, were both charged with being principals of third-degree rape in Louisiana. According to state law in that state, third-degree rape refers to sexual intercourse that “is regarded to be without the lawful permission of a victim.” Both of these individuals were accused of engaging in such conduct.
According to a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the driver who hit Madison Brooks was not being charged as of Tuesday night. This individual stated that the person driving the car was not impaired and that they contacted emergency personnel as soon as they could after the accident took place.

In a statement, LSU President William F. Tate IV referred to the current moment as “the time for action.” Tate was heard saying, “She should not have been taken from us in such a manner.” What happened to her was wrong, and our legal system will give her the justice she deserves.
